Start of the 2013 Grocery Run on East Avenue near
Third Presbyterian Church

This event each fall helps raise:

  • Awareness of food scarcity and
  • Money for food programs

Participants walk or run to increase awareness of hunger. They raise money from their circle of contacts and contribute financially themselves.

The 2013 Grocery Run, which took place Saturday, November 2, attracted 1,170 registered participants including those from UPT congregations Calvary St. Andrews, Lakeside, and New Life.

The 2013 Run raised a net $24,000 for area food programs. These include the Foodllink Children's Backpack Program and food cupboards of the participating UPT churches.

The 2012 event, a 5K run/walk held around East Avenue in Rochester, attracted about 1,200 participants and raised $13,000 for food cupboards and free meal programs.
